Important Dates for Residents

  • September 1st - Rent, Retro Rent and Repayments Due
  • September 5th - Last Day to put rent in Drop Box before 4:30pm
  • September 6th - Rent plus $25.00 Late Fee
  • September 7th - Office Closed in observance of Labor Day
  • September 8th - Late Notices Issued
  • September 21st - Evictions Filed for September Rent

Mrs. Elaine Bell-Ansong, Public Housing Manager, will be out of the office from Wednesday, August 19th until Monday, September 14th.


The new school year has started, help your child start the year on a positive note with these back-to-school tips:

  • Help your child get on a normal sleep schedule.
  • Talk to your child about safety precautions when taking the bus, walking to school.
  • Start the day off right with a nutritious breakfast to help your child stay focused through the day.
  • Build good study and homework habits by limiting distractions such as TV and cell phones.
  • Lay out clothes and get your backpack ready the night beofre to save time in the mornings.

Important Reminders

  • The Housing Authority has a zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal drug use and weapons on our property, if you see any of this activity, please call the police first and then the Housing Authority office.

  • Please note that you can be held responsible for guests engaging in illegal behavior in your unit.

  • Unwelcome visitors engaging in harassing behavior can be charged with trespassing if police are called and a ban and bar may be issued.

  • Only household members listed on your lease may reside in your unit, and overnight guests are only allowed to stay for up to 14 days per year.

  • Please do not put your roll out trash cart early! Do not put bags of trash next to your bin, the city will not pick the bags up. If trash is scattered, you will be fined. Please place your trash cart behind your unit as soon as possible after trash has been collected.

  • Pets must be pre-registered with the Housing Authority and have up-to-date vaccinations. Residents are NOT allowed to pet-sit animals not registered within their household. All pets must be on a leash.

  • Residents must report all changes in income (such as a new job, raise, or loss of income) within 10 days. If you fail to report new income or changes in pay or hours to the Housing Manager, you are committing fraud and could be prosecuted. 

  • Please call the office for all maintenance issues/emergencies that occur during office hours at 843.393.0436 ext 2003. The maintenance emergency phone number should only be called for an emergency outside of office hours. Leave a detailed message with your name and phone number for a call back. Do not call office staff after hours or go to their homes.

  • Maintenance will not enter your unit to make repairs if an adult is not present. 

  • Your car will be towed if you do not have a Housing Authority of Darlington Decal.

  • Please note that there is technically no assigned parking, but we ask that you be courteous to your neighbors and park in spaces closest to your unit.

  • Please check your mailbox frequently for important communication from the Housing Authority. Please note that not responding to certain communications from the Housing Authority and missing appointments can result in your lease possibly being terminated.
