The Housing Authority of Darlington (HAD) is a HUD High Performer Public Housing Agency that helps provide decent, safe rental housing for low-income families, the elderly, veterans and persons with disabilities. The Housing Authority of Darlington has a total of 168 subsidized affordable housing units and administers a total of 93 HCV (Housing Choice Vouchers). The HCV (Housing Choice Voucher) program provides rental assistance to low-income families who live in privately-owned rental properties.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Housing Authority of Darlington (HAD) is to assist low-income families with decent, safe and affordable housing opportunities free from discrimination as they strive to achieve self-sufficiency and improve the quality of their lives.

HAD is committed to operating in an efficient, ethical, and professional manner. The Housing Authority will create and maintain partnerships with its clients and appropriate community agencies in order to accomplish this mission.

The Housing Authority of Darlington administers both low-income public housing and Section 8 housing voucher programs in the City of Darlington. Some apartment properties provide senior housing, and most rental properties offer some form of rental assistance to make rent more affordable for very low-income families.
