Orlando, FL - The Housing Authority of the City of Darlington (DHA) was awarded the 2019 Website of the Year in the Small Public Housing category by the Southeastern Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (SERC-NAHRO) during the organization's annual conference held recently in Orlando, Florida. The website earned the SERC-NAHRO Website of the Year among several entries from Housing Authorities throughout a multi-state region.

SERC-NAHRO, a regional organization of Public Housing Authorities, is comprised of agencies from a 10-state area: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

DHA developed the interactive website, DarlingtonHA.org, to enhance communications with residents, staff, commissioners, and the community. Initially launched in 2017, new functionality was recently added to the website which allows potential residents to apply online for both public housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs.

The website features agency news, an event calendar, an Enewsletter, photo gallery, an interactive property map, and information on the services and housing programs offered by DHA. The website also features a mobile version, specifically for smartphone users. The site provides convenient, digital access to resources and serves as a 24/7 communications tool.

The website allows subscribers to sign up to receive notifications from the Housing Authority via text message and/or email. This feature allows the Housing Authority to provide news, updates, and information to families in a timely manner.

"The DHA website plays an important role in our Housing Authority operations. The site provides important news and updates for residents and improves the efficiency of our agency by streamlining processes. The website also allows us to provide digital resources and online forms, greatly reducing the amount of paper generated by our agency. We are honored to be recognized by SERC-NAHRO for our website," stated Jaime Steen, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the City of Darlington.

The DHA logo and website were developed working closely with Brooks Jeffrey Marketing, Inc. of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Brooks Jeffrey is a full-service communications and digital design firm specializing in government website solutions for housing authorities and law enforcement throughout the United States.
